This opens the Adobe Media Encoder Application that should have been installed alongside After Effects and adds your composition to the Render Queue in Adobe Media Encoder. From there you can 'Save for Web' as an animated GIF file. Then you can drag that file onto Photoshop and it will open in the video timeline.

To export an MP4 from After Effects through Media Encoder, as before, go to your active Composition and from the Composition-Menu select Add to Media Encoder Queue. When I need to create a GIF from After Effects, I do my animation in After Effects, go to Menu>Composition>Pre-Render and render it out as an uncompressed MOV file. To do so, I’ll click on the color square next to Start Color, and open the Start Color dialog box.
